Project description

Objective

LEXIS is dedicated to the study of citizen participation in lawmaking. The project aims to analyze the ways in which topics emerge for deliberation and who initiates them, the procedures that promote mobilization and participation of those involved, and the mechanisms that allow the aggregation of deliberation outcomes and ensure their impact. LEXIS will lead to the modeling of deliberative systems that enhance citizen participation in legislation and the mapping of the conditions for their institutionalization.

LEXIS is a research partnership focused on studying the conditions for citizen participation in lawmaking. It brings together 61 co-researchers and 28 collaborators working across 34 Canadian and international universities. The project also relies on the participation of 37 partners: 17 university partners, 10 associative partners, and 10 institutional partners.

Engagement of the PLDP
