Participation Challenge: Working with ideas from the community
Description
Antoine Bézard is a consultant specialized in participatory budgets. He is also the author of an annual note for the Fondation Jean-Jaurès on this new democratic phenomenon. In 2016, he created the website lesbudgetsparticipatifs.fr, the first information website on this new tool of participatory democracy in France. He was also involved in participatory processes in Latin America, where he met with actors on the ground.
For Antoine Bézard, participatory democracy is first and foremost the desire to involve citizens in public decision-making. Citizen involvement should ensure that citizen ideas are heard and, above all, that they are translated into concrete actions by public authorities.
